1.0 — first release (in preparation)

Terminal

Tabs and splits (⌘D side by side, ⌘⇧D stacked), light and dark themes that follow the system, font size and scrollback in Settings.
Local tabs run the Mac's own shell; shellden . opens one in any directory.
Live SSH latency in the status bar.

Hosts

Folders, tags and search, on every plan; paste an ssh command and the form fills itself; Test connection with latency.
Keys from the ssh-agent or the Keychain (generate or import ed25519), passwords in the Keychain, jump hosts, startup commands.
Resilient sessions (auto-tmux): drop the wifi, reconnect, resume.
Import from ~/.ssh/config, MobaXterm and PuTTY; export to SSH config so hosts work in ssh, scp, git and VS Code Remote-SSH.
Open any SSH host in VS Code or JetBrains Gateway from the hosts list.
Optional two-way sync with ~/.ssh/config.
Docker containers (local or through an SSH host) and Kubernetes clusters as hosts.

Kubernetes

The cluster view: live pods, workloads, config and network with a namespace switcher; shell, logs, describe, restart and delete per pod; "Why?" asks the assistant about a failing pod.
Pin a pod shell to the hosts list; it follows its workload across deploys.
Port forwards that survive pod replacement, forwards to services (named target ports included), and an API proxy port per session.
The cluster view keeps a cluster's work in one tab: kubectl, pod shells and pod logs open in a panel under the tables, with k9s keys (s, l, d, ↑↓) — and any session can move to a tab of its own, still running.
A tab holds up to four panes, each with its own host, pod, cluster or database: layouts, resizing, drag to move or make a tab, zoom, and a picker for what each new pane opens.
Shellden opens big the first time and every window comes back where it was left; a narrow pane keeps clusters readable (fewer columns, replica names whole).
A new pane lists everything it can open — open tabs, this Mac, saved hosts — without typing.
The assistant can see every pane of a tab at once, each under its name, or only the focused one.
Tabs and panes move to windows of their own, for other monitors, and attach back, their sessions still running (⇧⌘N, the tab's menu, the ⧉ button on a pane).
Split panes are cards with their own bar and ×; ⌘X inside a terminal closes its pane; a stacked-split button joins the side-by-side one; Multi-exec gets its button in the left rail.
Shortcuts live where they are used: a keyboard button in each part of the app lists its shortcuts; a double-click changes one.
Pod shells find the shell the image has (bash, sh or BusyBox); an image without one can get a debug container, as kubectl debug does.
kubectl inside the cluster view, for saved clusters and EKS alike — nothing to install: Shellden fetches it, matched to each cluster's version, and the cluster's credentials never leave the app.

Files (SFTP)

Remote file panel that follows the terminal's cd, with path completion and recent paths, drag and drop upload, folder downloads, permissions, and editing in the local editor (saves upload back).
Finder-style keyboard: arrows, Return to rename, ⌘↓ open, ⌘⌫ delete.

Databases

Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL and RDS for SQL Server: paste Azure's ADO.NET or JDBC string and the form fills itself; safe mode reads T-SQL whole and rolls every read back.
PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB consoles: schema tree, query editor, fast results, CSV copy, and the assistant one click away.
MongoDB with familiar shell syntax (find, aggregate, updates…), parsed and checked before it runs — never executed as a script.
Connect directly or through an SSH tunnel to a saved host; passwords in the Keychain; paste a connection URL to fill the form.
Safe mode: writes ask first, and reads run in a read-only session.
TLS to the server (prefer, require or verify the certificate), also through SSH tunnels.

Cloud VMs

AWS without installing anything: every account the Mac's profiles and saved access keys reach, region by region, as a tree with filters (name, ID, IP, tag, running, region) — Shellden talks to AWS itself.
AWS instances open in a Session Manager shell without the AWS CLI or its plugin.
RDS and Aurora databases appear in the Cloud tree; a click opens the database form already filled in.
EKS clusters open in the Cluster view straight from the Cloud tree — no kubeconfig entry, no AWS CLI.
Instances, databases and clusters in the Cloud tree carry the host list's marks, with a dot for their state.
Google Cloud and Azure VMs through gcloud and az for now, with "Sign in" starting their browser login from the app.

Linux

A local Ubuntu VM with Docker, the AWS, Azure and Google Cloud CLIs, terraform, ansible, kubectl, helm, node and python, set up from Settings with visible progress; it sits under LOCAL in the hosts list, can be the default for new local tabs, and opens in VS Code (Remote-SSH) as shellden-linux.

Remote desktop (RDP)

Windows and xrdp desktops in a tab: NLA logins with the password in the Keychain, certificates pinned on first use, optional SSH tunnel through a saved host, Send Ctrl+Alt+Del. A wrong password asks again instead of failing with a technical error. Paste an rdp:// address or a .rdp file's address line to fill the form.
The remote desktop follows the tab's size, and its sound plays on the Mac.
Retina sharpness: the desktop at the screen's real pixels, switchable live from the status bar; Standard draws each remote pixel as a sharp 2×2 block instead of a blurred one.
The screen as video: Windows 10/11 send the desktop as H.264, decoded by the Mac's video hardware — smooth video, camera previews and window drags, even fullscreen on Retina. Servers that do not announce the graphics pipeline (xrdp, older Windows) keep the classic, lossless path.
Files copy and paste between the Finder and the remote desktop.
The status bar says what a server does not offer (e.g. "No shared folder"), with why, instead of promising it.
Linux desktops (xrdp) get the same clipboard, files, shared folder (named after the folder, not "ignored"), sound and microphone. GNOME sessions resume and resize fully drawn every time (they stayed black or at the old size, about half the time), and turning sound off for a host no longer breaks the server's clipboard and folder for later connections.
Optional capture of system shortcuts (⌘Tab, ⌘Space, the Windows key); the Accessibility notice closes, and goes by itself once granted.
The Mac's microphone for remote apps that record.
The Mac's camera for remote apps on Windows (H.264, hardware encoded), up to Full HD, with a quality that changes live during a call (Auto follows the connection).
Each RDP host can turn off clipboard, shared folder or size following.
Clipboard text and images both ways, and a shared folder chosen per host (\tsclient\<folder name> on the remote): drop files on the desktop to send them, save there to bring them back.
Serial console for switches, routers, firewalls and boards: detected USB ports, baud rate, frame and flow control, and Send break.

Port forwards

Local, remote and dynamic (SOCKS5) forwards per host, started with the connection.

Assistant

Bring your own key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Ollama, any OpenAI-compatible local server); keys stay in the Keychain.
Manual and Auto modes: Auto runs read-only commands by itself and keeps investigating; destructive commands always wait for a click.
Permission rules, global or per host / container / cluster, with an "Always allow…" shortcut.
Investigations run in its own terminal tab: watch every command as it runs. In an SSH tab, it investigates on that server.
Knows Shellden: ask it how to do anything in the app.
Long conversations keep working: each question carries the latest 40 messages.
A deny rule also catches its command inside a chain (cd /tmp && sudo rm -rf build).

Everywhere

⌘K palette for hosts, actions and snippets; multi-exec across SSH hosts.
Every shortcut can be rebound from its keyboard sheet.
The shellden command: connect <host>, ., ssh:// links, and hosts for scripts; shellden:// links open saved hosts.
Alfred workflow and Raycast script command to open hosts from the launcher.
English and Spanish.
A full manual with screenshots, in English and Spanish: Help → Shellden manual, ⌘K or Settings → About. The assistant answers from the same text.
Settings → About: manual and changelog.
